The Community Learning Partnership Co-ordinator
This post was introduced in 2007 on 18.5hours a week, term time only. The Co-ordinators role is to underpin the strategic direction of the partnership and promotes efficacy and ensure this is demonstrated in the creative innovation, financial efficacy and key benefits for student in the projects that are developed.
The FCLP Finance Officer
The Finance Officer supports the work of the treasurer. Tasks include helping to set annual budget, regular meeting with the FCLP treasurer resulting in summary reports to the executive, organising payments to and from FCLP funds.
ICT Technician
An ICT technician works in most schools to support their ICT needs. This person is employed via a Somerset County Council contract and is paid for directly by those Frome schools that opt into this package, not from FCLP funds.
The Music Coordinator
The music coordinator works for Somerset Music and has some part time hours available to support and develop music in Frome. The aims are to develop music through the three stages of education in Frome, enable quality tuition and develop a wide range of opportunities to support and develop involvement in music in Frome.
Forest Schools leaders
The Forest School project funded by FCLP and external organisations is a ground breaking opportunity for children to gain an outdoor education. Children have an outdoor classroom in Ammerdown Forest and other natural wildlife sites where they learn about outdoor activities with leaders who aim to give the children both a broad education and a wider understanding of the natural world. This project has been particularly successful with children with behaviour issues, raising confidence, offering opportunities to share and work in small teams
The Sports Partnership Coordinator
The sport partnership coordinators are employed through Somerset Activity and Sports Partnership to develop and support the range and quality of sports activities available to young people in Frome. Based at Frome College and the middle school the post holders work with the college, middle and first schools to develop varied and challenging sports opportunities.
The Behaviour Strategy Coordinator
This post has been in place for a number of years to develop the partnership’s approach to the emotional, behavioural and social difficulties that students may experience. A strategy is being developed across the partnership which is supported by a base grant to cover the costs of the work and new funds which have been applied for. The additional bid funds are for 2007/8/9. This work is linked to the development of Parent and Family Liaison Workers (PFLW) from the Locality team. The Phoenix Centre at Frome College also works with students in this area funded from the same base source supplied by Somerset County Council. In this last year a major piece has been in progress to develop a Frome wide behaviour strategy with a policy and associated shared actions involving schools, health workers and the local service delivery team.
Media Arts Worker
The Media Arts worker is employed by Frome College as a result of their commitment to their specialism in Media Arts. The role of the worker is to develop knowledge throughout the 17 schools in the partnership. Students of all ages have been supported to get involved in a number of film making, writing and multimedia presentations both in front of and behind the camera and computer. Children learn a wealth of interactive and technological skills which support a range of learning opportunities. Some of this work is shown on the projects page demonstrating the outworking of the Colleges Media Arts status to the benefit of all the students in Frome.
