Frome is an exceptionally active and lively community with many and varied opportunities for people of all ages and interests. We believe that our educational provision is enhanced by working together and providing opportunities for community groups and professionals to meet with us as a group of schools. We seek to ensure that we are in touch with what’s going on in the community and to provide a valued contribution to the education of all learners in Greater Frome.
In common with all local authority agencies, we aim to ensure that we give our children the opportunities they need to:
- Be healthy
- Stay safe
- Enjoy and achieve
- Make a positive contribution
- Achieve economic well-being
To achieve these aims the structure of The Frome Community Learning Partnership has been arranged to:
- Give significant support to each school from surrounding schools
- Invest in raising local educational standards
- Create a strong position from which to negotiate the right approach to schooling in greater Frome and specifically each parish/ward
- Develop broader opportunities for each child
- Share learning, and
- A commit to a shared responsibility for every child's learning and development.
The structure thus involves a forum made up of governors and head teachers who facilitate a strategic overview, a head teachers group who meet half termly to discuss shared projects and directions, and an executive group who set agendas and steers the main business of the FCLP. Presently FCLP has adopted a co-chairs arrangement for the leadership of FCLP. This shares the work and ensures broad representation. In 2007 a coordinator was appointed to support the work of the partnership and to work alongside other FCLP workers e.g. the sports partnership officer and the behaviour and attendance coordinator.
